It's almost back to school!

Where has summer gone, in a blink it seems the weather has cooled and Summer activities are quickly winding down. Tomorrow is the last Market on Main in Rocky Mountain House, the September long weekend hits and there you have it...summer is over.

Being a seamstress can be a solitary business, once you meet your clients the hours ahead are solo with a needle and thread while the dresses are being altered. There is a great deal of time to think and reflect as stich after stich is carefully executed. Nobody ever said that alterations is a fast paced, high excitement career, but it has such definite rewards.

When Fall comes around it is a renewal of sorts, a new season and a time to learn. The Little Hart Sewing School was created out of a desire to teach all who want to learn the delicate and rewarding skill of learning how to sew. Every year I meet a new group of students who are eager to learn and create and it is a definite highlight of my week!

Besides the creative component, learning to sew and follow patterns is an excellent way to develop hand eye co-ordination and mathematical skills. Learning the function of a sewing machine and sitting at the sewing table as you carefully guide fabric and direct it where you want it to go is as satisfying as it gets. The look on students faces when they make even a simple stitch is so rewarding.

Classes at Little Hart Sewing School begin the week of September 9/2024 and it would be wonderful to welcome your little students into the classroom as they launch into a new school year. Everyone is welcome and all can and will benefit from learning the art of sewing!
