Summer Sewing Camps

Exciting summer sewing camps at Little Hart Designs!

Join us for a summer full of creativity and fun with Little Hart Designs' 2024 themed sewing camps! Our camps offer the perfect opportunity for young makers to learn a valuable, life-long skill while building confidence in a positive, supportive environment.

Each camp focuses on one main project, with additional smaller items crafted if time allows.

What's Included:

All supplies, tools, and kits are provided in the camp fees.
Camps run Tuesday through Thursday, with two session times to choose from: 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM or 11:15 AM - 1:15 PM (6 hours total). The Quilt Camp is a 9-hour session.

Registration Fee: Full payment is due at the time of registration.
Class Size: To ensure personalized instruction, each camp is limited to a maximum of 6 students.
Any camper who has not previously attended Little Hart Designs Sewing School is required to complete a 2-hour "Learn to Sew" workshop before participating in any other camps. This ensures all campers are familiar with basic sewing techniques and ready to enjoy the full camp experience.

Our Learn to Sew Workshop is the perfect introduction for beginners, offering a hands-on experience that teaches the essential skills needed to start sewing. In this 2-hour session, students will learn how to use a sewing machine, understand basic sewing terminology, and complete a simple project.

What You'll Learn:

Introduction to the Sewing Machine: How to thread, wind the bobbin, and use basic functions.
Fabric Basics: Understanding different types of fabric and how to choose the right one for your projects.
Sewing Techniques: Learning straight stitching, turning corners, and sewing seams.
Project Completion: You'll create a small project, such as a simple pillowcase or a tote bag, to apply the skills you've learned.

This workshop is a mandatory prerequisite for new campers, ensuring they have the basic sewing skills needed to fully enjoy and succeed in our themed summer camps. It's a fun, supportive way to kickstart your sewing journey!

Campers will create a Beach Towel Tote Bag—a fun and practical project that’s perfect for summer! This clever design works like a quillow, where the towel folds into the tote pouch and includes a strap for easy carrying. When unfolded, the tote transforms into a pocket, giving campers a functional towel for the beach or pool. So Sew Cool! Intermediate campers will add an extra challenge by incorporating a zipper into the pocket for a more advanced, polished finish.

Camp 3: Intermediate Teens Only

In this intermediate-level camp, teens will create a stylish Crossbody Bag—a practical accessory they can wear and show off. If time allows, students will also have the opportunity to make additional accessories to complement their bag, such as a matching wallet or keychain.

Prerequisite:
This camp is designed for intermediate-level teens who have either taken classes at Little Hart Designs or have previous sewing experience and are looking to advance their skills.

In this cozy and creative camp, campers will make a Book Pillow—a fun and functional project that features a secret pocket to store their favorite book. If time permits, campers can also make additional accessories to personalize their book pillow, making it the perfect companion for reading!

Camp 5: Quilting Fun

Campers will be introduced to the world of quilting by creating a Lap Rag Quilt. This beginner-friendly quilt is made with soft, cozy fabric, and students will learn the basics of quilt-making, including cutting, piecing, and quilting techniques. By the end of the camp, they'll have a beautiful, functional quilt to take home.

Camp Projects: In this relaxing camp, campers will make a pillowcase, eye mask, and slippers—perfect for a day of self-care. If time allows, we'll also make scrunchies. This camp is full of sewing techniques and fun projects that will leave campers feeling pampered and proud of their creations!

Camp 8: Love to Cook?

Camp Project: Campers will make a custom apron with a pocket, perfect for cooking or crafting. If time allows, we'll also make some fun accessories to go with it. A great camp for young chefs or anyone who loves to get creative in the kitchen!

Camp Project: In this camp, campers will make a Messenger Bag—a perfect, personalized bag for back-to-school. Ideal for carrying a Chromebook, books, or any school essentials, this bag is both practical and stylish. If time permits, we’ll make additional accessories to go with it.
